The term "drug abuse" is used to refer to a "non-medical substance with psychoactive effects (capable of producing changes in perception, mood, consciousness and behavior) and susceptible to being self-administered." Thus, the difference between a drug and a drug is not given by pharmacological, chemical or medical criteria, but by two small nuances of instrumental and social type: that is the individual himself who is administered the substance without prescription and that the objective is different from that of the cure of a pathology. In fact, some substances can be considered drugs of abuse or drugs depending on the context: steroids are in principle prescription drugs but if used in gyms to improve physical performance would be considered drugs.
One important nuance is that the definition of "drug abuse" refers to substances. Thus, supposed pathologies such as "addiction" to mobile, Internet, sex, video games, shopping and other "addictions without substance" are considered behavioral problems or education and not drug addiction. On the other hand, gambling is a disorder more related to lack of impulse control than to drug addiction (in fact, it is classified along with trichotillomania, pyromania or kleptomania) and whose approach is different from that of drug use.
In that sense and according to the definition, I have not consumed nor have I known from nearby sources some kind of drug of abuse. Therefore, I will refer to explain a drug of abuse in pharmacological terms.
Morphine is a potent opiate drug frequently used in medicine as an analgesic. It is a controlled substance, opioid agonist used in premedication, anesthesia, analgesia, treatment of chronic pain and cancer. It is obtained from the opium plant (Papaver Somniferum), popularly known as poppy. There are multiple morphine derivatives, such as heroin, ethylmordine, which is used as an antidiarrheal and analgesic, buprenorphine, pholcodine, etc.
Morphine works by blocking pain receptors in the central nervous system and stimulating the release of endorphins. But in addition to the positive effects of relieving pain they produce negative reactions that can manifest as physical problems or addiction. The psychological dependence associated with morphine addiction is complex and prolonged. Its consumption can generate powerful side effects that can even endanger the life of the people if the dose is not controlled properly.
For this reason this type of medication is dispatched with prescription retained or recipe check and under stock control. In addition they have a greater control for their dispensation and whose prescription is valid only during the 30 days after the date of its emission. It is the pharmaceutical chemist who must check that the prescription is in compliance with the current regulations.

It's is true that you can get addicted to a substance. But also you can get addicted to social medias, not in a way of drugs abuse, but there is a scientific study that shows how our brain can get addicted to ''a like'' on facebook and many parts of our brain gets activated at the same time, it's compared to drug abuse effects :O
